On four consecutive days, Fraport AG together with 80,000 guests celebrated „75 years of Frankfurt Airport“ with a unique interactive event.
The brand new runway north-west which will be officially opened in October offered plenty of space for this event. Even if Fraport AG truly has excellent organisational skills themselves (they handle up to 200,000 passengers a day) they decided to assign the general agreement to event specialist EBS-lights GmbH who in turn delivered the creative concept for all events.
The summer fete of the management board on the first evening was all about presenting the brand with the aid of a gigantic man-size 3-D logo which provided for surprises and always new interior settings throughout the evening. The stage which was part of the setting provided plenty of space for the entertainment program and boasted a range of clever details. More than 2,000 guests spent an unforgettable evening in the 4,000sqm aluminium frame marquee which also included an original Hessian beer garden. Being an exceptionally good host, Fraport AG also triumphed with the family event “Happy Landings” on the following two days.
For 80,000 guests and employees (which have been selected by lot) the runway offered a unique backdrop to discover different attractions and themed environments. Young and old were equally thrilled by the 360° cinema, the multi media walk, the history walk, and all the other attractions and exhibitions which took place on the 200,000sqm area.
One week later the final event “Fraportlauf” took place for which the whole area had to redesigned into a running track for the 5kms and 10kms running competitions. The planning phase for this gigantic project took only 14 weeks, the implementation phase only a few days. Especially with regards to the infrastructure which had to be build from scratch and the security relevant issues this has been a great challenge not only for us but also for the Fraport project team.
In retrospect this has been a thoroughly successful and outstanding event.
