Assigned by the media agency Mission Events, EBS together with the light designer team of Loop light staged a dramatic light show in parts of Darmstadt’s city centre.

On the occasion of a late night shopping event with shops staying open until midnight, the electricity supplier Entega and the city marketing federation had the idea to illuminate certain facades of the towns´buildings to visualize the history of Darmstadt and make it perceptible.

Visitors to this event were expected to develop a new perception of their  town and to be proud to be part of it – made aware through this unique display of lights and fireworks.

With this in mind, a comprehensive concept was developed, comprising  a 30mins symbiosis of quadraphonic emittance of sound waves within the city centre, which in turn consisted of different sound fields comprising radio announcements, ambient music, presentation and the projection of movie sequences, photo material and animation shown on the facade of Darmstadt castle.

For the “intelligent” lighting, different types of moving lights were chosen. For the architectural illumination a substantial amount of City Colors wereused. The projection was done with the aid of several beamers, having a total output of more than 100,000 ANSI-lumen.

The icing on the cake were the fireworks which were developed to be in perfect tune with the projection and illumination. Being installed at the back of the old castle, this breathtaking display guaranteed for an unforgettable night and has been the highlight of the whole event.
